Celtics Rout Mavericks 107-89 in Game 1 of NBA Finals

Brown Returns, Porzingis Debuts

The Boston Celtics kicked off the 2024 NBA Finals with a resounding 107-89 victory over the Dallas Mavericks in Game 1 on Tuesday night.

Jaylen Brown's Return Boosts Celtics

Returning from an injury that had sidelined him for the past two weeks, Jaylen Brown made a significant impact on the game. He led the Celtics in scoring with 25 points, including two crucial three-pointers in the third quarter that helped extend Boston's lead.

Porzingis Makes Impact in Debut

For the Mavericks, newly acquired Kristaps Porzingis made his NBA Finals debut. The seven-foot-three Latvian scored 20 points, including 18 in the first half. However, his foul trouble and subsequent ejection in the third quarter proved costly for Dallas.

Celtics Control the Game

The Celtics controlled the game from the outset, shooting 50% from the field to the Mavericks' 38%. Marcus Smart added 20 points and 10 assists, while Jayson Tatum contributed 18 points. For Dallas, Luka Dončić led the way with 23 points, but he was held to just 10 points in the second half.

The series now shifts to Dallas for Game 2 on Thursday night. With the Celtics holding a commanding lead, the Mavericks will need to regroup quickly to avoid falling into an even deeper hole.
